Hi guys, Just a car enthusiast from WI, looking to gain more knowledge and direction with diesels.
I'm not new to VW and Audi but I am to diesels, so this will be sort of a learning process as I take this one apart and fix current issues.
I purchased a white 2005.5 Jetta TDI this last February with I want to say 197k miles, the car had bad front struts, brakes, etc. minor things that I took care of when I got it home. In the past few months I started to hear the ticking and knocking and decided It was time to go ahead and replace the cam with a Colt stage 2. According to the previous owners records the car had the timing belt done at 180k but I figure I will go ahead and change that and the water pump while the car is down, I will also be deleting the EGR cooler as it was starting to leak and smoke at start-up and I suspect this is what is causing it. I am back from a vacation this last week so today is when I will start with the cam replacement.
Current car mods: Malone stage 1.5, Kerma 3" Turbo-back, Avante Garde m220 18's wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact's, DRL Delete.
Just lurking around this site for the past few months has shown me quite a bit of knowledge but I'm sure I will gain plenty more thru conversation with the many knowledgeable people on this board.
Now its off to the car to start that cam job!
