Getting to the Alternator?

    Car:
    2003 VW Beetle turbo
    I have a 2003 Turbo VW Beetle that I need to remove the alternator from so that it can be replaced with a new one but have no idea as to how to remove it since it sits beneath the turbo. Please tell me the easiest way this can be done. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks YMZ I was hoping so much wouldn't have to be removed but guess i'm outta luck. I really appreciate the help!

    Southeast Coast on I-95. Radar detector on and yes Herbie still gets 40mpg at 80 mph
    If you take off the inter-cooler pipe (one across the front of the engine) and then the accessory belt tensioner (3 bolts) the Alternator should be right there . pull the (2) mounting bolts out and unplug the electrical connections and its ready to remove. Replacement is the opposite.

    On the 2005 or on a 2003?? Different engines...
