after research, it appears that only the dealer can defeat the horn sounding when locking the car, Is this so?

Okay, unless I buy the program myself for $249 its either the dealer or another mechanic, yes?

With the vehicle stopped and the key switched to on, navigate thru the settings in the MFD using the wheel mounted buttons to the ATA setting and toggle it to off, this will disable the Anti Theft Alarm audible notification thru the vehicle's horn.

Actually I think it is a seperate horn for the alarm. Unplugging it will disable it...

Multi-function display. Right in the middle between the speedometer and the tachometer.

Yes, thanks, but I do not think I have any user options that I can toggle in my 2012 Jetta TDI Premium. All I get is mileage info and temperature when I scroll through and there is nothing in the manual.

It's in the setting section (the one you can not operate while moving). There is about 4-5 menus when scrolling left or right then you can scroll up and down to find it. I beleive I saw it in there.

I do not have access to anything besides odometer, mileage info etc...I have turned the car on without out starting the engine and there are no options like that on the 2012 Jetta TDI. If there is a way to access options, please give me explicit instructions, thanks.

My VW service department claims it cannot disable the ATA confirm. Even though ATA confirm is shown in my owner's manual as an MFD option, it is not an option actually available on my model and year.

I did not know that Jetta's MFD has different options from JSW's MFD...
