Cash for clunkers success - 4,000 on first day

    The funny thing is that they changed the ratings at the last minute include some and exclude other cars. The older passats are included under cash for clunkers! Not the TDI obviously but the gassers.

    Do you have a reference for where this is? The fueleconomy.gov site says 19 mpg combined for the V6 and 20/21 for the I4.

    In case anyone missed it, the official site is cars.gov. They now have a "gas meter" which shows how much budget is left in the program.

    The article says there are 13 million car sales in the US per year! That's a lot of economic activity, no wonder they want to jump start this stuff!
