    Hello,
I am the proud new owner of a 2000 Jetta TDI, haven't had any issues until recently. This morning while backing out of my driveway i suspect my throw out bearing seized and thus resulting in my slave cylinder dying. Vehicle has 350xxx miles on it and i figure while i'm in there i should probably replace clutch/flywheel as well. My only question is how do i know what size clutch/flywheel i need? From what i've seen there is a 8 5/8 inch and a 9 inch option.

    TIA
    Greg

Considering the mileage, I would. Give a vendor your VIN or year and they should be able to tell you. Where do you see the option?

I didn't have a choice on my 01 Jetta. I do however love my South Bend STG2 Daily! Good Luck!

I ended up taking a good look at the clutch disk and there was plenty of material left on it (lucky me) but i did not remember to measure the size, most likely i will either call the dealer or my local import parts store to get the size from them. The different sizes i saw were on rockauto since I'm able to do the work myself I don't feel the need to go to shops but I always like getting the best price I can

I've checked ETKA to see what it says on centre plate size for a USA Jetta TDI.

    Clutch plate for vehicles with glow plug heater ALH - LUK 219mm - 028 141 36 LX - £123
    Clutch plate for vehicles with glow plug heater ALH - F&S 228mm - 038 141 36 DX - £114 was dropped on 01/10/2007 for 038 141 33 CX - £114

    They do a 1 set clutch parts - ALH - LUK 220mm only for 028 105 264 J, 028 105 264 K, 038 105 264 J

    Clutch plate - 028 141 036 LX - £123
    Clutch pressure plate - 028 141 025 PX - £120
    Release bearing - 02A 141 165 M - £44

You normally replace all 3 main parts when you do a clutch change not just the centre plate.

This is the only part number that shows in http://nemiga.com/cat_spares/etka/volkswagen/jem/204u/141500/

You need to keep http://nemiga.com/cat_spares/etka/volkswagen/ in your favorites/bookmarks.
