I am after advice on the type of thread lock to use on the turbo bolts.
The car is a Skoda Octavia 110BHP with a VW ASV code engine. The turbo is a Garrett 1479V.
The car went into limp mode so I decided to remove the turbo to strip and clean it.
On reassembly I am not sure what grade of thread lock to use for the three bolts which secure the vane plate to the manifold and also the five bolts which secure the two main parts of the turbo together.
The exhaust gases can reach 600'C.
Loctite 221 has max temperature of 150'C.
Loctite 278 has a max temperature of 200'C.
So what is the best to use?
As these max temperatures are some way from the 600'C I guess you can only do the best, e.g. 278.
