VAG Engine & Transmission Codes

Hi guys/gals.

I started a new project last week VAG Engine & Transmission Codes to show all engine & transmission codes used by all VAG applications.

Now this isn't a simple process. I downloaded 4 pdf files for engine codes and 1 VW transmission codes but they aren't up to date I think 2010 is the last date shown. I can copy and paste this into my database no problem.

I checked ETKA as they list all engine & transmission codes by the 4 manufactures. You can't copy and paste info from there so I thought I would just printout VW engine codes and that showed up 63 pages so I cancelled it. If you talking about 60 pages to each section then that's a lot of paper for all 8 sections. So the ETKA data will have to be written in which is going to take along time. At the moment I have 1500 engine & transmission codes.

ETKA Engines

Audi 26 pages
Seat 12 pages
Skoda 11 pages
VW 63 pages

ETKA Transmissions

Audi 58 pages
Seat 19 pages
Skoda 20 pages
VW 97 pages

If any of you that think this app would be useful make a comment. It will be useful is anyone wants another engine or gearbox as different models and manufacturers use the same ones.

Watch this thread for further updates.

Update 24/12/2014:

I've finally finished this app after a few months of slow works, it now has:

Engines 6,147

AUDI 1,418
SEAT 667
SKODA 538
VW 3,524

Transmissions 12,447

AUDI 3,674
SEAT 1,242
SKODA 1,126
VW 6,405

If you have downloaded and use my Free EOBD II Error Codes software you don't need to install anything as it uses the same COMCTL32.OCX, just read the ReadMe First.txt. If you have problems running this app on a Windows 64bit system then let me know and I'll make an installation package.

There is also a VAG Engine & Transmission Codes.chm help file which shows bugs and extra info I've found in ETKA. You need to run this app once before this help file will show.

Update: 11/09/2014

Ok I'm slowly going through the PDF files checking for typo's and that's a slow process but you can copy and paste info. So here is a new version that you can save all 8 PDF files or each one individually to the app folder.

If you think this app is useful please click the Like button?

Update: 14/05/2015

Engines 6,308
AUDI 1,467
SEAT 696
SKODA 553
VW 3,592

Transmissions 13,033
AUDI 3,903
SEAT 1,338
SKODA 1,221
VW 6,571

The original ETKA 7.4 PDF's were all in UPPERCASE. The new ETKA 7.5 is in proper case.

New version:

The new version allows you to right click on any line of data and copy that to the Windows clipboard so you can paste it in a file or forum, that saves you printing hundreds of sheets of info.

Mega is being a pain in the backside it now says I need to update my web browser. It shows the link to all browsers, if I click IE it says update to IE 11 which I've always used. I have Firefox as a backup and it work on there no problem.

As you can see from post #1 only 15 users have downloaded VAG_Engine_&_Transmission_Codes_14-05-2015.txt and 32 users have downloaded VAG_Engine_&_Transmission_Codes_PDF_14-05-2015.txt. So no one is really interested in may app.

I update this app every month when I install the new ETKA updates. As you can see from the file date 14-05-2015 I haven't posted a new update because users don't seem that interested in my app. The new ETKA 7.5 Plus shows details in a slightly different format, it now shows the date with the full year and model variants in the same code number.

If you want to print all data that will take a lot of paper. If you print the Audi Engine PDF file that's 85 pages, VW Engine PDF file that's 92 pages, Seat Engine PDF file 8 pages, Skoda Engine PDF 5 pages. The Audi Transmission 232 pages, Seat Transmission 23 pages, Skoda Transmission 20 pages, VW Transmission 321 pages.

With the new app you can right-click on the Engine data and Transmission data and copy any selected data to the Window Clipboard and paste that into a forum or text file.

The PDF file shows Mounting Time: which to me is the wrong terminology Mounting Time means time hours/minutes/seconds so I've change that to Date(s) Used. The new PDF shows all dates in the full year format so I've changed all the dates.

e.g.

Manufacturer: VW, Date(s) Used: 05/2000-07/2001, Model: Jetta Variant, Engine Code: AUY, 85Kw, 115PS, 1.9 Ltr, 4 Cyls, Remarks: Turbocharged Direct Injection Pumpe Düse (TDI-PD)

Manufacturer: Audi, Date(s) Used: 05/2015-08/2016, Model: Audi A3/S3 Sportback/Limousine/Quattro, Engine Code: CXXB, 81Kw, 110PS, 1.6 Ltr, 4 Cyls, Remarks: Turbocharged Direct Injection Common Rail (TDI-CR)

Manufacturer: VW, Date(s) Used: 06/2015-, Model: Beetle, Engine Code: DELA, 110Kw, 150PS, 2.0 Ltr, 4 Cyls, Remarks: North American Region (NAR): Turbocharged Direct Injection Common Rail (TDI-CR)

Manufacturer: VW, Date(s) Used: 07/2010-07/2014, Model: Jetta, Engine Code: CJAA, 103Kw, 140PS, 2.0 Ltr, 4 Cyls, Remarks: Canada ("CDN"), USA ("USA"): ComfortLine, SportLine, Turbocharged Direct Injection Common Rail (TDI-CR)

If someone wants the new PDF files post a comment and I'll post a new link as of 01/12 2016.

There are plenty of new engine codes for new models, this is just VW.

This thread was made a couple of years ago in members only section. There have been only a few downloads of my old app so I've moved it to General Discussion.

The new app has a different feature as you can copy any line on code to the Windows clipboard rather that printing out hundreds of pages so you can paste to a file or forum. You can also save the newest 8 PDF files to browse.

The new one has:

Engines 6,973
AUDI 1,820
SEAT 682
SKODA 470
VW 4.001

Transmissions 15.008
AUDI 4,073
SEAT 1,543
SKODA 1,432
VW 7,960

I've cut down on model abbreviations in the new version.

If anyone wants the newer version let me know and I'll upload the new link? Or if you just want the PDF files which don't list correctly, let me know?

Ok for those users that don't want to download and use my app I've uploaded all 8 PDF files from 05/2017 ETKA. Obviously the new PDF files don't have the older vehicles. May app has all of them from the beginning.

The new download link is in post #1.

The new VAG Engine & Transmission Codes app you can right-click on any line shown and copy the details shown to the Windows clipboard and paste it into a file or forum.

If anyone wants to use my new app which is better than the old VAG Engine & Transmission Codes 14-05-2015 posted in here, let me know?

Hy Keithuk ! I can say that your app is really helpful. I would like to thank you beacause it helped me a lot (this forum too). I am not a mechanic, but using your info's I figured out what type of gearbox fits to my car (because no one wanted to say and it was very difficult to find the right gearbox). Thanks to you it was very easy. Keep working.

As I said in your email about the new app, why is you email name eBay when you edy on here?

You couldn't remember where you downloaded it from so I gave you a few links. Is that why you've joined this forum?

All I can say is what it shows on your email name Ebay the properties show you email address.

If nice to see you have added your Type Code to you car spec 3T427C
