Definitely something beyond the regular VR6 clutch kit. The clutch is not rated on hp, it's rated on torque. Diesels tend to have torque spikes at low rpm so make sure you get something with about 20% more torque rating than your goal. First plan on the turbo and how much power you plan on making, then think about the clutch.

Don't get too much clutch because it'll wear out components like the crankshaft thrust bearing and maybe the pedal and hydraulics, plus the pedal force would be very heavy.

Hi, for reference (as this is an old post) I would highly recommend a Black Diamond Stage 2 kevlar clutch. (approx. £320 GBP)

Some info here (there are other suppliers).

I've run one of these for 4 years on a 1.9TDi mk4 Golf mapped to 175bhp with 301Ib/Ft - 408Nm torque and never had a single incidence of slip and that includes running it around Brands Hatch on 5 or so occasions :)

I'm now running one in my Audi A4 1.9TDI, also mapped to 174 bhp (wierdly only 265Ib/Ft - 360Nm but similar PD engine) and its been faultless on there too.
