Default Smoke when starting engine?

Just wondering if anyone knows why i get a big puff of smoke when stating my engine?
Only happens when left for a week or so.
Smoke is blue/grey
Car starts perfectly
Car runs perfect
Oil consumption is 0.5 litres every 6k miles (roughly)
Engine on 118k miles
No smoke on start up if car used daily
No smoke under hard acceleration.
Been doing this for a few years now.

Seems like something leaks into the combustion chamber over time, maybe oil or diesel?

Since you say only happens when car is left for a week I'd guess valve seal. Some oil leaks in and is burnt when engine is started. I wouldn't worry about it. On a side note, a common complaint on a brand new Porsche is a puff of smoke - the horizontal boxer engines lets oil slowly seep past seals if the cars are left alone.

Thanks for that! Makes sense.
I've heard about the Porsche engines doing that on start up due to being horizontal boxer style.
