So because the belt was not changed i thought the noise was from the timing belt tensioner, however now that I have listened to some youtube videos of people with the oil pump chain issue it sounds like that, so I am wondering if it is just a visual check to check or is there a limit to play in the chain that is acceptable? Would the tensioner make a similar sound? Thank you in advance for any help. |

Odds are that you're more than ready to change the balance shaft module...
You could drive down the 400 to one of the well-known TDI techs who has replaced quite a number of these for him to listen to your car and give you an opinion... Brandon Pilkey runs DCB Auto at 141 Oakdale Road unit 4... (Actually, he lives not far from Barrie and you could possibly meet him after work... give him a call... 4 1 6 - 7 4 7 - 0 4 0 0 Good luck, Yuri |

Also, there is no play that is acceptable, the oil pump is a tensioned chain. No visual check unless it's already gone. The tensioner breaks, chain goes slack. Sometimes catastrophic damage, sometimes the chain slips until your engine is damaged from low oil pressure...then the oil light will come on
