Default New from the UK

Wow a decent site at last that seems to have the answers to my questions! we have a Seat Alhambra 2001 that regularly went into limp mode after about 3.5 - 4k revs now the turbo is only functioning very rairly, I have worked out that it is the wastegate actuator that is jammed, jamming etc, hardly any movement, so I have spoken to a couple of local garages to replace, but they only want to replace the whole turbo or charge me £200 to fit the actuator. I am looking for some pictures or instructions on how to get to the actuator without losing my knuckles or £200. I can source an actuator in the UK for £60.00. and I guess I am an intermediate DIY mechanic!

Regards
Nick

Moved post to general since this is a technical post, FYI the actuator is linked to the internal vanes so once you separate the actuator from the turbo's lever, move the turbo lever. If it's sticking at all the internal vanes are causing the sticking, not the actuator.

Since you're in the UK, check out the innotec turbo cleaning kit if the vanes are stuck. In other words, narrow down the issue before buying the actuator. http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a...ate-adjust.htm
