Default New Audi A3 Member oil pump balance shaft problems?

Hi all just replaced the 6 year old Golf 1.9 TDI with 350,000 miles (ran like new) with a new (2011) Audi A3 2.0 TDI (138 bhp) - currently under warranty so no mods yet, I have to say I am very happy with the car to date, and anticipate that it will do a similar mileage to that of its predecessor.
I have discovered that the 2.0 TDI has a potential problem with the oil pump driveshaft and balance shaft splines.
I wrote to Audi and queried this fault and was assured that it only affected a very small number of cars and as far as they were concerned was not a problem.
What I am trying to find out is his information correct? (engine code CFFB) – with the changes made to the engine in stop start technology, and reduced emissions etc, were any changes made to the balance shaft / oil pump drive shaft, or do I need to start considering a machine shop engineered solution.
Your comments and advice would be deeply appreciated, in ensuring the continued reliability of my dream car and the sanity of its owner.

I have not heard of this problem. I have heard of massive problems on up to around late 2005 2.0 engines - see here for more http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/b...passat-tdi.htm due to a weak chain design. However, 2006-present the 2.0L TDI have been gear driven balance shaft which have been pretty reliable.. Can you reference where you saw the new 2011 engines having balance shaft and oil pump problems?

They fixed it midway 2006. I haven't heard of any problems since than. However, the low fuel quality in North America is causing some problems with high pressure fuel pumps. I haven't heard of these problems in Europe but I don't monitor the Euro forums.

Default there is problems

there is a problem with the gear driven oil pump module, mine failed at 60k the edges of the 6mm hexagon drive wear causing the pump to fail.look on vwaudi forum or Audi-sport.net at the number of people having the same problem.

I've just bought a 2005 A3 2.0 TDI with 53000 miles on the clock.
I've been reading about this issue over the last couple of days an I have to say I'm concerned.

I'm actually on the train now going to pick it up! I'm still excited!
