Exclamation is my DMF and clutch for the bin?

hi people!
new here so be easy on me please!
i have a slight issue on my audi a4 s line avant 2.0tdi 140!
the car in question is on a 2005 and covered 78k on the clock!
my problems i have are!
when its cold i have difficulty selecting second up to third gear smoothly, without having to do this really slow or it feels like i am forcing it into gear, it seems to improve when warm but its nowhere near as slick as third to fourth for example!
the gear changes in general feel a bit snatchey but sometimes feel ok for a while!
when depressing the pedal for example approaching traffic lights, i can feel the clutch sort of snatching apart as i press the pedal! also, the pedal feels more stiffer than it used to!
when i am driving slowly and letting the car crawl, (looking for a car park space in asda) i can hear a whine i believe from the clutch thrust bearing as when i depress the clutch pedal it goes!
also when parking the car in garage, if i press the clutch in i can hear the thrust bearing stop making a noticeable but not loud noise!
when the car is ticking over, i am getting the "hit by a gust of wind sensation" which is normally associated with a nackered DMF!
apart from this! i love the car, and was wanting a bit of advise on what to do!
my mates at work have suggested i do nothing and wait for it to break as it still works, but i am not impressed by this! she is my baby and i want her to last!
so basically do i,
A replace the release bearing only?
B replace the whole lot, DMF and complete clutch kit?
C do nothing yet#
many thanks in advance!

78k seems a bit young but it could be the clutch especially if it's grabbing and the bearing is squealing. If you do decide to go for a clutch do the full kit including the bearing as you'll only have to take it all apart again in no time. They're not to pricey though if you're sticking with the dmf but very pricey if going smf as I suspect you have a 6spd box so it's round about a £1000! : You might find it cheaper but this guy's pretty sound for that sort of stuff.

cheers for that mate!
i suspect its the clutch too!
as i dont really know what type of a life prior to me my car has had!
another thing i have noticed that i forgot to add is, when i depress the pedal and rev the engine, i can feel a sort of grinding vibration on the clutch pedal whic is a worry and not quite right!
i have been quoted £740 all in from my local vw specialist for a full oem sachs clutch kit plus DMF and the use of a courtesy car while the work is being done which i think is not to bad for 6 hours labour!
oh! and thanks for the reply!

It doesn't sound to bad at all considering the kit including bearing is around £470, make sure they do include that though as I think it's an extra when buying a kit.
