A diesel vehicle with gasoline in the tank would run for a very short time, certainly not 18 miles, before there was serious damage to the engine that would involve more than a $200.00 repair. I call scam. Someone is trying to fill the tank of their personal car on your dime. Dispute the charge, give the credit card company your whole story in writing with documentation and let them handle it. cheers dave parker |

I ran my Rabbit diesel for about 1/4 mile on gas.
On my way back home from a trip I arrived in my smallish town. I had a near empty tank. I filled with gasoline. I drove about a quarter of a mile before the car near stalled, coughed, sputtered, and ran slowly. I was able to drive at 7-8 MPH to a large parking lot. I called my friend and mechanic. He came out and diagnosed the problem. He told me to "wait in that bar." 15 minutes and 2 drafts later he came in and ordered one and said the car would be ready in a half an hour. Later we went to the car. It was surrounded with a puddle. A diesel puddle. The mech had unclamped the lower fuel line and let it empty the tank. From his fuel can he put in over a gallon of diesel. After some cranking it started and ran flawlessly. I put on another 200 thousand miles after that always remembering to PAY ATTENTION at the pumps. Today's TDIs are quite different when it comes to running on gas, and the problems you will encounter. |
