Default A6 cluster / SKC issue

I'm a new member and this is my first enquiry.
I have a 2003 A62.5TDi. The instrument cluster has intermittent errors (clocks freezing up) and I have sourced a replacement cluster from a scraped A6 TDi of the same year.
I do not have the SKC code for my car, neither do I have the SKC code for the scraped car that I removed the cluster from.

I have a RossTech VCDS, but don't have a lot of experience with it yet.

Questions:
1. Is it possible for me to fit a second-hand replacement cluster to me car and complete the adaptation procedure?
2. Do I need the SKC code for the scraped donor car? Is there a way that I can obtain this? If so, how?
3. How do I obtain the SKC code for my own car (Audi dealer will not provide it)? How do I also get the date the code is generated and the workshop code that the RossTech VAG-COM seems to need?

Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Since this is a technical post, moved to general.

1. Yes, but you need both SKC.
2. Yes, you should be able to get it with vag-tacho.
3. See #2 and http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/m...W-Audi-FAQ.htm
