2005 Jetta TDI PD BEW Timing belt nostart

Just replaced the timing belt on my father's 2005 Jetta PD TDI (BEW).

Third of these i've done, and getting a not start.

Cam window shows centered, used lockdown tools.

Any ideas?

Hi have Passat 04 Pd TDI same problem

resolved.

i somehow failed to appropriately set the tensioner. needle for the tensioner was about half way to the window.

pushed timing far enough out to get a non-start.

rotated the tensioner full counter clockwise, then smoothly back to the window and reset the nut.

fired up.
