New Xenon Headlights

I have a Jetta 5 full house - 2005 Model. I have put in a new set of Xenon Headlambs, but when i start the car and put on the the lights its start to flicker. If i switch the car off and put on the lights it does not flicker at all....please help

Normally this is due to a voltage problem. How did you wire the xenon headlights? The most stable way is to wire them directly to the battery through a relay harness.

You haven't just bought a set of xenons and swapped them have you?

I don't think it works that way they aren't just plug and play. Someone has just ask if he can plug and play a set of bi-xenons on another forum.

You may need controllers, ballasts, central electrical control unit and adapters and if you want to go the full hog then you'll need self levellers and washers if you want those? Then you will need to have it setup with VCDS. If you don't use your DRLs then you'll need VCDS to turn them off (Search FAQ about this).

I have removed the a plug from a Jetta 5 which had xenons and just brigde the wiring. My headlights is complete with ballast and the contol unit that sits under the headlights

I have a set of xenon headlights in my new 2011 Audi A3, and I thought, when ordering same, that the secondary lights under the Xenon's were supposed to turn with the steering wheel to light around corners. Was this something that Audi once offered and has now dropped or am I missing something. ?

The Audi a3 doesn't yet have the cornering feature. So far, in the VW line only the Golf and Touareg have it. On the bright side, I noticed that the Audi A3 HID are much sharper than the VW HIDs. This is because the lens in the Audi is clear. The lens in the VWs are cloudy and many have a break line. This creates a more gradual cut-off. The clearer lens creates a sharper cutoff. I prefer clearer lens but it does create a greater contrast between the lit and unlit areas. However, you can also use a brighter bulb with a clearer lens since there's greater light control.

The Audi A4 and above have this in the Audi line.
