Default Need help from locals with RNS-510, RVC and 9w7 install

Hello everyone.

I am new to this forum, but not the VW scene. I bought a new 2002 GTI 1.8t in May 2002. I am now selling it and moving onto a 2012 Tiguan SE 4mo. If I could have gotten it in as a diesel, I would have, but VW doesn't seem to want to bring those over here.

I am looking for some help from some locals in installing a RNS-510, RVC and 9w7 bluetooth module in a 2012 Tiguan SE 4mo w/ sunroof and nav. I will be picking the car up in mid to late February and wanted to get some help lined up so I can do the swap shortly after i get the car. I am located in central Connecticut. So I am close to both NY, MA and RI. I know there are some CT people here. So I thought I would see if anyone has any experience with this. The RNS-510 install isn't the daunting part, it's the RVC and 9w7 installs that I am concerned with.

If anyone is willing to help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Drop me a PM or an e-mail if you are available. You can reach me at x31337x at gmail dot com.

Thank you in advance,

Sam

I'd be willing to help out but only once it's warmed up.

Chittychittybangbang, thank you for offering. Would the offer of a heated garage make you willing to take on the task any sooner?

Doesn't the tiguan already have bluetooth? If lower blueooth see here: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a...W-Golf-JSW.htm to install high bluetooth. Very easy.

RNS-510 install is pretty easy and fast. I don't know how to remove the trim on Tiguan but it should be pretty easy. RVC would require some wiring, do you plan to install OEM RVC or aftermarket?

The Tiguan does have Bluetooth, however because I have the RNS-315, the bluetooth is built into the 315. Once I upgrade to the 510, I will lose bluetooth, that is why I want to upgrade to the 9w7. I am getting a kit which includes the 9w7, styrofoam holder and wiring harness. I was told installing it is fairly simple. You just run a wire from the microphone in the overhead console to the harness. The harness then runs from the RNS510, behind the glovebox and then under the passanger seat. I was told it's about 15 min of install time.

I have a walk though on removing the trim on the tiguan to do the RNS-510 install. It is very straightforward.

The RVC kit is OEM VW parts. The only snag I have hit so far is whether to order the "premium" kit, which has the controller to show the movable path lines when you turn the steering wheel, or get the regular kit which only shows the proximity lines that don't move. Either way it will be OEM parts. It includes the camera, handle, wiring harness (and controller, if I get the premium) I don't anticipate removing the trim from the Tiguan will be extremely difficult. I was told that once you get past the rear seats, the wiring can be tucked under the lower trim without removing it. There is someone on the tiguan forum who has done it and is willing to share information with me regarding it.

Thanks again.

Sam
