Default drivers side transaxle prior to tranny drop

prepping car to drop the tranny for a new clutch. manual says to seperate both trnaxles at the tranny, tie them up and away (leaving the wheel/bearing ends alone) passengers side half shalf seperated easily from the flange at the tranny, but the drivers side won't budge (bolts are removed). do i need to take out the ball joint or something at the other end, or can i count on getting the extra half inch or so clearance when i remove the engine and tranny mounts and straps (and swing it to the left a little).
thx
bob

Try turning the steering wheel all the way to the left... (and if that doesn't work, all the way to the right... )

PS: wear gloves... since you're putting some effort trying to move a unit that has a bit of mass to it (the driveshaft and CV joint), when it does let go, it could smash your fingers against something... don't ask me how I know this...
