Maybe but it doesn't happen with the front window down?

Yes, what is happening is that cross flow is causing the airflow to not buffet. This is like blowing across the top of a bottle and is a side effect of having an aerodynamic window area. The car with the window guards doesn't have this problem because wind is disturbed.

So I finally got my driver's side wind noise problem resolved on my 2010 Jetta TDI Cup Edition (MKV) by another dealer under warranty. The fix was replacing 1K5-837-431-E-5AP (Channel). Took them a couple hours to fix. Wind noise has gone from very obvious to barely discernible.
The MKVI Jetta has a different, but similar wind noise problem. There is an official recall (57D9, if I'm not mistaken) for these cars. |
