I am new to diesels so what is the HPFP? and is it a part of the every 10k service? When should it be changed? I take my car to the Wheeling WV dealer every 10k. I know I might be able to do it my self I have been wrenching engines for way to long but never a VW or diesel just old Chevys, Fords, and Mopars. Thanks for the info.
Not terribly hard but you do need a few special tools.

HPFP is high pressure fuel pump, there have been a few cases where the pumps have been shedding AL which damages the rest of the fuel system. See here: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a...uel-filter.htm

Make sure the dealer is using VW 507.00 spec engine oil, it's required to keep the DPF system from clogging with ash: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/D...AQ-VW-Audi.htm
