Default Misfiring and possible injector problem. Tdi 2006 jetta

I recently took my tdi 1.9L jetta 2006 with 180k miles, to the dealer b/c it seemed to be running rough and possible misfiring. After running diagnostics they determined they problem was 1) Egr vacuum selanoid valve (stuck open) 2) The waste gate bypass valve 3) The air charge pressure sensor. After they replaced these 3 parts, (over $1000 including labor) the car is doing the same thing, he now says they need to replace the injector pump and all 4 injectors ($4200). Is there any way to confirm that it need these injectors and pump? Does anyone know any good tdi mechanics near albany ny?

Well, there is no injector pump and the injectors don't fail often.

IMHO, do a camshaft inspection, see FAQ for DIY. Your welcome.

I've inspected the camshaft, and everything is good... I tried the diesel purge (thanks to your you tube video) after 1 can it didn't seem to help, it seems to idle ok but reving the engine there is an ovious misfire happening, and when driving it has little power, like it is running on 3 cylinders.. Do you think I should try running more purge through it?

no, if I were you, I'd invest in VCDS or at least get ebay cable + vcds-lite freeware version to pull the codes yourself. Full version VCDS will give you all the options and menus. Start taking measurements and running some tests or you'll have to pay someone else to do them. Could be injectors like they said but they don't fail often. More common is bad camshaft, bad injector bores, or wiring harness issues.

You have 3 engine codes: p0299, p0300, and p0407, google them and learn more.

sounds like crap. Are you sure the cam lobes are all smooth?

Turns out it is the cam shaft problem... How do dealer shops know so little about there own cars, never will I darken the doors of a dealer shop again! Thanks for all help! The shop I have it at is going to do the timming belt and the cam job for 2500. Does that sounds reasonable?

Did you end up having to replace the cam shaft as well?
