Default Interior and exterior door panel removal

The mk5 cars have a neat feature - the exterior door skin can be removed from the frame. This makes replacement or repair really easy. Removal is required for door module replacement, broken window regulator repair, or wiring harness replacement or repair. As detailed in this thread: I discovered a broken door wire harness problem.

If you've never seen the inside of the door on a car, I hope that seeing how little protection there is will encourage defensive driving. Doors aren't exactly bulletproof and there is a limit to how much they can protect. The mk5 and mk6 VW Jetta, JSW/GSW/Sportwagen, and Golf/Rabbit all have 5 star Federal side impact ratings.

The interior door skin is nothing special but it's also required for wire harness replacement or speaker replacement. The writeup article: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a...ta-removal.htm teaser pic:

I'll bet that once the skin is in place and the door is shut, it adds strength to the door in the event of a crash.
