Default hpfp failing concern

Changed the fuel filter on my wifes 2010 a3 tdi at 25,000 km after getting a notice from audi to change it then- There was a small amount of metal flaking on top of the filter- 1 of the filter ribs was also disintegrating, took pics of it.- i showed audi the filter- they made a note of it- least i hope they did. Car now has 45,000km on it-Im gonna change it in nov. when i put the snows on. Been using husky dieselmax since the last filter change. Planning on taking pics again. Here's a question- Should i contact audi canada before i change it and let them know what i find? Build date of the car is sept 09- 1st gen hpfp? I dont want them to direct me to a dealer for them to change it and hide the fact that they found metal- what do you think?

YES. Document everything and save your fuel receipts just in case.
