Default hey need help timing belt and cam

Hey this is my first time posting something like this. I have a 2006 Jetta TDI with the brm head, the cam has ware and the lifter are dished. Going to try to change to cam and lifter this weekend just looking for more info and what to expect. What are some tool that I will need to get the job done?? I have triple square bits, camshaft holder tool, universal locking timing belt tool. Do I need to get a timing belt tensioner tool, to make sure that the tension is right?? I've got the cam, lifters, cam seal and brass sleaves for the cam. Is there anyther parts that I need to get the job done??

The TB tensioner can be tightened with 6mm allen.

"camshaft holder tool, universal locking timing belt tool", not sure how universal it is, if it doesn't look like the T10100 in the FAQ it won't work. It's pretty precise and if timing is off you'll find it won't work right. Also, your crank sprocket is oval and designed to be timed a certain way to cam.

there is a sweet diy on here, i read it like 3 times over. feel alot better about the job now. im planning on tackling it this weekend. look at the home page for the site. not the forums area. the tools that come to mind are a 10mm 8mm triple square. the have to be long and skinny to get down to the cam caps to the bolts. the cam lock tools of course, hope this helps

the crank sproket is oval? i hope your refering to the 3x 13mm bolts and the "toothed" window and not the actual sproket or i seriously missed something, now that i type that it seems obvious but i just wanna make sure im on the right page lol

Yes, the crank sprocket is slightly oval to time with cam pulses to reduce wear. Looks circular but there is a slight squash to it.
