Default Driver's door lock issue

My driver's side power door lock has stopped working but alarm still works. All of the other doors still lock and unlock with the remote. When I lock with remote, driver's door stays unlocked and allarm goes off when door is open. When I lock driver door manually, the security system alert "honk" goes off and the security light stays flashing.
Also, driver's side auto control for the window doesn't work on the up feature.

I found some threads for MKIV but nothing for MK5. Anybody experienced anything similar?

Otherwise there's some problem with the central convenience module.

I bought a new harness for something like $130 from 1rst VW parts. The replacement harnesses are made slightly longer so that hopefully, the wires will not fray and cause electrical issues.

If wiring isn't the issue there's this info from vortex on the actual door lock

Yeah, it was faulty harness. It was repaired a year and a half ago. Before replacing harness I removed and checked door lock module. It was OK, so i bought new harness and - voila! Paid $230 with tax at VW dealership .

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!

1rst VW Parts is an actual VW dealership that also does mail order on genuine VW parts at great prices. My harness was something like $130.
