Default 2010 Jetta TDI DRL question

I have a 2010 Jetta TDI. I have a low beam headlight, high beam headlight and separate Daytime Running lights DLR located next to high beam lamp. The left DRL burned out then the low beams became the Daytime Running Lights. I replaced the DRL bulbs with the correct bulb and now the low beams are still energized as the DRL. The DRL lights only energize with the low beams when i turn the two position light switch the to the right. How can I get the DRLs to work correctly?

It became the backup position but it sounds like it didn't go back. My best guess is that the car doesn't recognize the new bulb. Sometimes there are wonky issues with certain bulbs. If that isn't the problem you should get a VCDS tool and monitor the DRL status and check the coding. You may have a notice in the MFD does it say anything?

Thanks i will check and make sure the bulbs are correct. The MFD just displayed a brief message light is out and never displayed it again.
Just to make sure we are talking about the same light here is a link i used to determine which lights should be the DRLs.
