Default timing belt

need to know the exact top dead center position for the flywheel in the window on the housing for a 2001 beetle tdi

Is it auto or manual? If auto, the 0 goes at the edge of the window as shown. If manual, the dash goes at the middle of the hole's pointer.

They can be hard to see so if the other stuff is right on and you see a dash, it's probably right. The dash is stamped into the flywheel.

yep. theres a kinda-not-so-obvious mark on the flywheel that will line up with a mark on the bell housing.
