Default Parts Needed for engine rebuild

Looking for piston rings, main bearings and rod bearings for 2005 Passat BHW
Is there another source other than the dealer?

In the midst of the balance shaft update and discover the front main brg is damaged and the crankshaft has some marks on #1 main. Bringing shaft to machine shop for a polish--

Rod brgs, piston rings as normal replacement as engine out of the car

160,000 miles

As far as I know, no and i know they're ridiculously expensive because I've looked too. The part numbers and procedure are listed in FAQ for Passat.

To all, after many hours researching on-line and over the phone, a "super" customer service rep "Dawn" from Hasting Rings has an answer,
Hastings Ring Set 2C4871 will fit a BHW engine about $130 for the set ( 4 pistons )

Awesome, thanks for the update. I'll add it to the BHW failed oil pump article if you can confirm if it does indeed fit for sure. Did the rep at Hastings rings say that this app was specifically for this engine or that the specs were the same?

Angry Oil pressure relief valve

Need further assistance........
2005 Passat engine finally back together and in car, new balance shaft assembly, new rings, brgs, seals, gaskets, etc
0.002 to 0.0025 clearances in rods and mains--checked all w/pasti-gauge
FYI--found eng brgs, (rods/mains) at Rock Auto--order in States they will send from their European counterparts--prices very reasonsable
Back to BHW, engine started very well, no unusual noises
Went for test drive, no noises, oil light flashed returned to workshop
Installed master oil pressure gauge, oil pressure 3-4 PSI at idle, 22-25 at 3,000 RPM (POOP!!!)
Spec is 7-8 PSI at idle, 30+ psi at 3000 RPM

Where is oil pressure releif valve?
In the oil pump, or in the oil filter housing (bracket)?
.........other solutions are very, very welcome

Lastly
How does oil pressure light operate?
Does it only come on above XX MPH?

pretty sure both the pump and the oil filter housing have relief valves.

not sure how oil pressure light works but it looks like it's working as intended (barely and too late ) I can tell you in general VW low oil lights do work at idle but not 100% sure on this one)

thanks for the updates on bearing sources!
