Default help 2000 tdi wont start

on my 2000 tdi my car wont start unless i unplug the coolant temp sensor. then car starts up an runs ok but lack full power can any help me with this problem

It sounds like you may have 2 problems. One is the coolant temp sensor being bad. If you unplug it, it turns the glow plug time to maximum but it doesn't sound like that should be a big problem in TX.

The lacking full power could be many things, I don't want to guess without things like datalogs or error codes, see : http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/m...er-fix-TDI.htm this article for a good start.

Have you checked for fault codes at all? It might save you chasing around trying to figure stuff out.

Have you had your timing belt done recently? If so your timing is way off. Unplugging the temp sensor advances your timing to a much greater extreem then the ecu would do alone, it get set into thinking the temp outside is dead frozen. Poor timing will also have an impact on your performance as well.

P1556 = Motors for central locking, UNLOCK
P1144 = Central Locking - Opening Motor
P1256 = Fuel Injector for Cylinder 8 (N86)
