Alternator change, car does not start.

My friend has a 2002 Jetta TDI. He had a shop replace his alternator and today he said that the abs light and the air bag light came on and the car died. It wont start again. I told him to check his 109 relay because that will cause a no start condition. Besides that, is there any other common symptom for it not turning on and dying because of the alternator change?

Bad battery or voltage regulator? The key of a bad relay 109 is no glow plug light at all.
