Smile 2002 golf immoblilizer

Battery went dead while out of town for two months and now car will not start for more than 2 seconds, a car with a key on it shows up on dash, how do I reproggram key?

Welcome to the forum.

This is a relatively common problem if your search FAQ.

You have my simpathy but you could try disconnected the battery and hold the main leads together for a few seconds to discharge any capacitors then reconnect and try it again, but it doesn't always work,
