Dealer sells the braided hose but it's expensive. Any 4mm hose will work, I just use generic silicone hoses. Yes they degrade from oil exposure but not for years (you're not using them as oil lines) And they stay soft and at that price I can replace them many times before equal to dealership hose cost.

The OEM hose its very good. In Romania i have only two options - the original or after market ..... which are of poor quality and crack in one year.
I've changed them all with the OEM. Unfortunately pretty expensive - aprox. 14 U.S. Dollars per 1 meter. In your country there are many high quality products ...... In your country there are many high quality products ...... in Romania, there are more than those made in China, Turkey .... or ships .... |

As Chitty says I'm sure you can get vacuum hose from any auto accessory shop that is cheaper and just as good as OEM? Though I don't know how many accessory shops there are in Alaska?

No auto specialty shops here. And the people at the local parts stores just say they can order them from VW. I found some at McMasters.
