Replacing TURBO CHARGER

Have a '98 Jetta TDI need to replace the turbo charger. Does anyone have advice on after market products? Can an aftermarket part be used?

Yes, you can use an aftermarket part but the turbo must be for TDI because the rpm range is different. check out kermatdi.com, they sell turbos.

Not much for us and our wastegate turbos, what's wrong with yours? It's pretty rare that the wastegate turbo goes bad. You could do a vnt conversion which involves making it fit, tuning to run a vnt, rewiring of the N75 etc. I think the AFN manifold fits the AHU/1Z and it's the 110 with a vnt turbo already,

or you could get a slightly upgraded wastegate one from kermatdi or maybe a second hand one from someone like this one.
