Default Replacement ignition switch 1998 Jetta TDI

I want to change the lower part (electrical portion) of the ignition switch of my Jetta TDI 1998. Is it possible to change that part without taking apart the key cylinder off the stearing column?

Thanks,

Shahid

I haven't taken it apart on a mk3 but I can tell you they are separate.

Most switches I've come across just have one or two little grub screws holding the electric part on. They'll be around the side of the bottom of the metal part if they're there.
