Default New Member From Colorado With Limp Mode Issues, 1996 vw passat tdi

Just joined the forum and I drive a recently purchased 1996 Passat TDI. I have been having problems with the car going into limp mode but only when at highway speeds and only in fifth gear. I had it hooked up to the computer at the mechanic and no codes popped up. Anyone have any ideas, common issues? Is it bad to continue driving?

Thanks

Not bad to continue driving since the reason limp occurs is to prevent damage, see the FAQ article here for most common causes, it's a very common problem. You're putting more load on engine and that is condition which triggers limp mode. Prob a overboost condition.

ECU hose replaced? If not, see the FAQ, should throw a code though.

Vac line problems are very common, should throw codes though.

Also, since this is a technical post, moved to mk3 section and added detail to title.
