Default Howdy from Wyoming and Montana

I am a returning student going to Montana State. I have had a 98 Jetta TDI since march and have spent a lot of time reading on "the forums." I love the car and I love fixing things and in fact am going back to school for an engineering degree. Thank you for providing this valuable community service!

I have a question about the tutorial found here
http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a...leshooting.htm

I have gotten to the end of step 2 and have no power on my No. 1 terminal on the 10 pin harness. This is presumably the main power to the Anti Theft Control Mod? My wire is brn/yel which is consistent with the wiring diagram provided with the write-up. Just not sure what happens next. The wire goes thru a green plastic single wire connector I think. It then goes in to the back of the fuse panel. I couldn't get a voltage reading at the green connector.

Guess I should check voltage at fuse panel? Bently says its fuse position 21. I have no other manual so I will assume this is correct?
Can I just run a new similar gauge wire from the back of the fuse panel (using the location from Bently) directly to the 10 pin harness?

I am just not sure I am reading the wiring diagrams correctly betw the one provided and the bently.

thanks!

step 2 of system doesn't operate?

Before running another wire, have you pulled the door boots back in the door seams and checked the wires for breaks?

Had not checked them. I will take a look. This particular wire did not seem to be tied in to that side of the system based on the diagrams.

The wire I would run would only be from the module to the fuse panel, about a 1 foot run. What are the downsides? Just curious.
