hi i got a passat tdi it goes into limp mode when i put any electrical accsessory on like wipers,cd player and even lights. can you help me

Voltage regulator? Bad alternator? Do the headlights dim or get brighter? The alternator shouldn't cause limp mode, what error codes does the car have?
