There is no dipstick. You just have to add until no more fluid goes in. Also, Adblue is included for 3/36k. There might be a measuring block through VCDS software that can see this through a sensor but there's no gauge or anything like that.

With VCDS, I believe you can find the level (expressed as a percentage) in Engine -> Advanced Measuring Values -> 98-0:Sensor for reducing agent fill level. My Passat with about 3600 miles, mostly around town, shows a fill level of 77.03 %.

Thanks for posting! This is my first VW so I have no idea what VCDS is. Thanks!

I haven't looked at the DEF tank yet but does it have a long neck, i.e. > 10" or so? If not, I imagine you could put a clean stick in there and see where it comes back. Your own personal dipstick. |

I think that there is a light that will come on in the dash when the level is low reminding you to refill.

And in a Mercedes AdBlue car, if you ignore the warning and the AdBlue runs out, you have something like 20 starts, and then your ride goes dead until a refill/reset is done.

I read a post on vortex about a B7 that wouldn't start turns out he was out of adblue. So that is confirmed for us.

I guess one could make their own dipstick and monitor the level. Does this have a long neck going down into the tank or a relatively short neck?
