The mentioned TSB/SW updated does not apply to units with 0011 or greater but rebooting the unit or disconnecting the battery couldn't hurt.
The GPS antenna could be faulty so if you have not installed another one I would give it a shot. The fault codes for the satellite antenna shouldn't be too hard to resolve if/when you have that unit back out, but what radio did this car have from the factory? The Address 1C-Position Sensing module in still in the CAN Gateway installation list which may be causing a conflict. Remove address 1C from the [Installation List] and let us know if that or the reboot improves the GPS issue. |

I've disconnected the battery and purchased 2 new antennas besides the one originally purchased for the install. The factory radio was the rcd-310. The postitin sensing (C1) has been turn off, had no affect on signal.

Okay, thanks for the update. I'd like to think the RCD satellite antenna from the factory would be compatible with the RNS system, so this may be a defective unit. I'm hoping the vehicle that came out of is under warranty?
If I find any newer TSBs/updates or have any new ideas I'll let you know. |

Dana - These TSBs does your company have access to these or can anyone search for them and read them? I've
them but I've never found anything useful.

I know you have already had Dana review the coding but here are my thoughts:
His Coding: Byte 0 - 04 Byte 1 - 00 (I have 05) Byte 2 - 04 (I have 00) Byte 3 - 21 Byte 4 - 04 (I have 01) Byte 5 - 00 Byte 6 - 00 Byte 7 - 00 Byte 8 - 00 Byte 9 - 00 Byte 10 - 10 Byte 11 - 00 My Coding (2011 Golf TDI Factory Installed RNS-315 with Dynaudio and 9V7 Bluetooth): Byte 0 - 04 Byte 1 - 05 (This flags as Dynaudio which I have) Byte 2 - 00 (Sound System, Active Speakers) Byte 3 - 21 (Telephone Transceiver/Bluetooth (internal) inactive) Byte 4 - 01 (Speaker Monitoring inactive (sound system) Byte 5 - 00 (Not Documented) Byte 6 - 00 (Optical Park System & Interior Graphics: Standard (via CAN) Byte 7 - 00 Byte 8 - 00 Byte 9 - 00 (Audio Parameter 1) Byte 10 - 10 Byte 11 - 00 (00 Backup Language: None) It does (from the video) look like a positioning problem or that the demo mode may be on. Did you reconfirm in SETTINGS that demo mode is off? (Just to cover your bases?) My old Acura system used to let you adjust positioning if it was slightly off. It was in a hidden diagnostics screen. I haven't found that screen for the RNS-315 yet. One more thing, where did you install the antenna for the GPS? Can it see the sky well? Is it blocked by metal? Are you integrating into the shark fin antenna?

Another shot in the dark here but did you replace the antenna with one from a RNS-315 series? A new antenna itself is around $100. Perhaps it does need a RNS specific antenna. Strange that in the parts catalog there are antennas listed in two places. One for the radio and one for the Navigation. No part numbers are listed but I wonder if there are different antennas and perhaps you have to get a GPS-compatible one? The antenna listed in the radio parts was $98 but the antenna listed in the navigation had a "ask for price". Antenna #2 does seem to have a small square piece underneath the fin that #1 didn't have. Dunno if this makes any difference. "Regular" Antenna for 2011 Golf: ![]() "Navigation" Antenna for 2011 Golf:
