Default New Member problems

Hi all
I have a 2002 Golf TDI 150 with 185,000 miles which has only just started to give problems.
First noticed oil in water so replaced oil cooler.
Then noticed fans were not working, so installed new resistors.
Then turbo started scraping and lots blue black smoke from exhaust, so replaced turbo.
Now white smoke from exhaust, so am about to change head gasket.
I expect to replace the head gasket, then replace the cylinder head because its cracked and I didn't see it, then replace the engine because the block is warped.
Maybe the hard way, but my time is free and parts cost money, and its such a great car!
Jeremy

Very strange to have so many problems at once.

Default TDI Multiple Problems

Turbo was making noises for some time, I overfilled with oil at the last service. Recently STOP warning for coolant had come on a few times but temp gauge had not gone above 90, - not with me driving. My daughter also uses the car and she wouldn't have noticed!
I figured car overheated because of fan failure, head gasket goes then oil cooler and finally turbo. I'm just fixing it in the wrong order.

Car fixed, have done about 500 miles since last post.
Don't know what the white smoke was, but I was advised that after turbo replacement expect lots blue black smoke from exhaust when car warm, need to drive down motorway in 4th gear with engine fully up to temp to burn off oil in exhaust. Did this, massive amount smoke for 10 miles but eventually to my great relief, it cleared, all fine now.
Didn't need to change head gasket. but what's most likely to go after changing turbo?
Also changed cam belt, water pump, idle and tension pulleys, water temp sensor and thermostat at same time. Good for next 60.000 miles then will need new rings.
Before that will need exhaust, suspension and clutch... ho hum.
