Default 2005 Passat

I recently purchased a 2005 Passat TDI with ~93k (auto) and drive quite a lot (~200mile/day). On my first fill-up, I calculated mpg at 35.3mpg. I drive mainly highway (75-80mph) and some city/back roads, but hit traffic of course in the Bean Town area. It was suggested from in the TDIclub to have the balancing shaft upgrade. It looks a bit complicated. I see there is write-up in the sticky, but has anyone DIY'ed it recently?

Welcome to the forum.

At 93k you should have changed the timing belt thats your first job.

All the info your after is in FAQ if you search.

Yep, I found the info. Nice write ups, but might be a little too involved for me. Though I love a challenge! The timing belt and leaking motor mount were changed at the dealer before I bought it. Thanks for the heads up though. BTW, which service manual do you recommend?
