Default Sunroof or not

I live in Las Vegas and I am concerned about the heat gain from that big sunroof. I really do not like sunroof, but it seems I must get it if I want a Lux or Exec. Does anyone live in the hot southwest with a 2011 or 2012 Touareg with the big sunroof? I would like to hear how it works out when it is 110+ outside. Any other thoughts would be helpful too.

No sunroof on my Sport, but I can definitely feel the greenhouse effect from the 8 other windows. Having said that, I also have a John Deere tractor with cab. The UV glass in that cab does a great job of keeping the heat out. So I'll speculate that the glass roof on the Lux/Exec has to be that good or better. But I don't think it will help out with the rest of the greenhouse effect.

I live in Atlanta, GA and found the sunroof on my Q7 was too much, even with the shade closed. I had it tinted, and it's completely satisfactory now.

If you have it done, be sure to get a % Tint that will not allow too much heat to build up in the glass itself, or you could have a major thermal breakage.

Not easily in my experience. Tint the sunroof!
