Mechanically, the car is in very good shape given its age. I have installed new glow plugs, new OEM glow plug relay, new OEM power antenna, new brakes, new OEM exhaust system (Z-pipe, center pipe, and exhaust), and new wiper pump motor. The AC was recently retrofitted to use Freeze12 which is an R12 substitute and blows cold. I also have new brake rotors plus an assortment of new parts like motor and transmission mounts which I will include with the sale. The car starts and drives very well. The transmission shifts smoothly through all 4 gears. Engine is in terrific condition with high compression and no blow-by. Does not leak oil too. Vacuum pump and all vacuum actuated devices also function. Minor clunk in steering, so possibly bushings will have to be replaced soon. Apart from that, this is a reliable and economical classic car. I've driven it from my home in PA to my office in NYC several times and have averaged roughly 26-27 mpg. Electrically, the car is also in very good shape. Just about everything works. All power window motors work, although the rear passenger side window needs to be put back on its track (it will come down, but not come up unless pushed up by hand). The sunroof works and all lights function. The only thing that doesn't work is the dashboard clock. The car was PA inspected last year and the inspection is good until June 2012. The tires are about 85% new with excellent tread depth remaining. They are Pirelli P400 radials. Aesthetically, the car is also in very good shape given its age with very little rust. There are only 2 bad rust spots that I've found on the car; one is by the front passenger jack hole and the other is front passenger valance. Below is a link to high resolution pictures where you can see the rust spots. Otherwise, the body is in great condition. All doors still close solidly. There is no rust on the bottom of the car, nor in the trunk, floors, or A&B pillars. This is a rare find for a North Eastern vehicle. This is a non-smokers car, and the interior is in excellent shape with no rips, tears, or stains in the seats or carpets. I have CarFax and Autocheck records for the vehicle which I will provide in hard copy plus upload along with the pictures. There is 1 accident listed. Fortunately, Autocheck shows that the accident was very minor - the original owner hit a bicyclist. As such, there is no frame or body damage anywhere on the car and it's a shame that this even shows on the records. I suspect the only reason why is because a police report was filed. The car is located in Shohola, PA. This is very close to Milford, Matamoras, and Port Jervis. Asking price is $6000. If interested, please PM, email (amstel78 at gmail dot com), or call my cell at (212) 844-9842 for an appointment for a test drive. I work M-F, so weekends are the only time for viewing. I will include the special tools I purchased from MercedesSource plus extra gaskets with the car. Last edited by amstel78; 01-15-2012 at 01:10 PM. |
