Default Talk to me about engine lugging

I've driven a manual for about 17 years but it's always been a Honda or something similar where you have to keep the RPMs up just to get a little power. With the TDI I've noticed in just a week of ownership that there is so much power down low I'm not revving the thing nearly as much as I'm accustomed to. I'm only 400 miles in and trying to follow chitty's break-in recommendations. Anyone have any additional guidelines or recommendations here? ie don't make the engine work under 1500 RPMs but of course that's ok when coasting, etc. Thanks!

Yeah, if you're going downhill and costing low rpm doesn't really matter. Best fuel economy is achieved at low rpm, high load but it's slightly harder on the engine and you don't want to lug it esp during engine break-in. Medium rpm loads the bearings less and has higher oil pressure. Of course, vary it according to driving situation.
