Default Rim/Tire Compatibility

Good morning all, I recently put in my order for 2012 Sport wagon TDI manual, will be getting it in a couple of weeks, can't wait, my current ride is a BMW 323 I have a 4 BMW rims that are the 17" variety that are in very good condition rubber and all and would like to use them in my new TDI, does anyone know if they would be compatible?

There are a few considerations:

1. Overall dimensions, particularly diameter. What size are the tires on the new VW and what are they on the Bimmer?

2. Stud pattern and offset. Your new VW is 5x112 with a high positive offset (48-50). What's your 3-series?

I have my doubts that the two cars are compatible, but who knows. At least you may be able to sell the Bimmer wheels and use the money towards the VW set.

They probably will not work. Since you do not say what year your 323 is we will have to guess at some things.
If your car is an E30 323 (late eighties) it will have four lug wheels.
If your car is a E36 or E46 323 (Nineties into the 2000's) it will have five lug wheels but the offset will be wrong.
The offset being wrong will mean that the wheel and/or tire will hit the caliper or strut.

You could try it but I doubt that it will work.

Sorry.

cheers

No. The VW is 5x112 the BMW is 5x120.
