Recall - stop sale order of new VW TDI engines due to fuel leak

Just type your VIN number into that site and it should tell you, mine isn't due for the mod.

I entered the VIN of the 2012 Golf I'm supposed to take possession of this week, and it is subject to the recall notice: "diesel fuel injection lines." Maybe they have already applied the remedy or maybe there is no mandatory sales halt. Either way I want that car! I spent the weekend relocating the snowblower, the lawn mower, three bikes, BBQ grill, and assorted clutter to make room in the garage. If I have to wait I suppose I can park the truck in that spot along side SWMBO's Honda. It looks lonely with all that empty space.

I wasn't phased by news of the recall. A recall is reassuring in its own way. A mandatory sales halt, on the other hand, strikes me as overblown. UMMV.

Hmmm. Mine was built in April of 2010, yet the website claims no recall for me.

Assuming that the VIN range they listed includes all the incremented digits, your vehicle would be included if the digits before 313132 are AW (2010 Wolfsburg-built cars) or BW (2011 Wolfsburg-built cars).

The recall should include all 2011 Golf TDI's, unfortunately.

My car is indeed AW, but still shows no applicable campaigns. Which seems odd, as my reading would seem to indicate that ALL 2.0 CR cars would get the dampeners on the lines.

According to a post by TDI Club, Volkswagen has issued a stop-sale on all 2009-2012 Jetta, Jetta Sportwagen and Golf TDI vehicles equipped with the company's 2.0-liter TDI turbo-diesel engine pending a voluntary safety recall. It's unclear whether or not the 2012 Passat will also be impacted. In a written communication attributed to Volkswagen, the problem stems from the fact that the fuel injector pulse rate happens to occur at the same natural frequency as injector line number two. Over time, the line could fail. That's especially true on certain lines manufactured with tube material that contains scratch marks from a grinding process. Volkswagen says that the inferior piece can't stand up to the stress of the injector pulse rate.

Since I am in the market for the TDI SW I emailed the salesman to ask about updates:

"Thanks for your questions. Yes the TDI Jetta comes standard with 16 inch alloy wheels. And, yes there is a recall and stop sale on the new 2012 TDI's. The recall is voluntary and the fix has already in place. The fix is to prevent a possible leak in the fuel line down the road. We have already fixed several vehicles and if one is sold that is up for purchase we have the necessary parts to proceed."

If you read the article again its for

VOLKSWAGEN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL 2009-2012 JETTA AND JETTA SPORTWAGEN VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 2008 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2011

So I don't think your Jetta 2006 2.5 comes into that category?

I thought the forum would be to help us, but im wrong , when I checked the VIN of my car did not see anything about cars from year 2009 to 2011, and copied and pasted the wrong part of the result of information that appeared, then comes a funny guy, which who has a car of the year, and thinks he can bully me, as if I do not know how to read, thank those who helped me, I am leaving the forum, not like people who think that because they has better car, they can scold the poorest.
and those who know how to read go to the web site and check by yourself if has something there about year or model thanks!!
