Default Parts Recommendation

Hello all,

One more call for advice and hopefully I'll be done for a while!

Some backstory: The dealer I purchased from was unable to acquire mudflaps to install in time for my pickup this past Saturday. They're offering me any accessory for the golf (within reason, I suppose) that is comparably priced to chrome exhaust tips (which they say can't be fitted to a golf and I'm not super interested in anyway). In any case, I'm unsure of what my options are / what to ask for. A thought was to ask for the HomeLink rear view mirror that you can install in a GTI and to have the local dealer folks install it. Thoughts?

Thanks!

So you want mudflaps? Go for it. It'll save wear/tear on the paint behind the tires, otherwise that area can get sandblasted

Homelink rear view mirror would be an aftermarket thing, homelink sunvisor would be an OEM thing, it all depends on what your dealer is willing to do

So are you saying mudflaps are no longer available or they forgot to get some?

If you keep your cars for a long time then mudflaps are worth having in my opinion as Chitty says it stops the sills getting pebble dashed from stones and grit picked up buy the tyres. If you still want them then hold your ground.

Chrome tail pipe tips are available for the Golf but not as a VW addon these have been talked about before VW Chrome Exhaust Tips

Thanks. Clarification: I paid for the mud flaps, and will take delivery of them in the mail (and the dealer will cover installation fees), but they're offering another accessory as compensation for the fact that the mud flaps weren't installed when I came up. I'm pretty sure they're only willing to install OEM stuff.

Well they are easy to fit yourself now that you've paid for them. Just see what you can wangle out of the dealer for not fitting them?

I don't know about the US but when I picked mine up I asked them for a litre of oil for topping up when needed. VW used to supply a litre with the mk5 but they stopped with the mk6 just to save more money. I also asked if they do the touch up paint pots, they do so they gave me one of those.
