MK6 TDI stock headlight replacement

Hi there, before I get flamed: I did a search and did not find anything in the forum that directly answered my questions. If I overlooked please slap me and post a link

I just bought a 2012 TDI Golf 4DR with the Nav/Sunroof trim.
I did not get the fancy headlights as I was running into my budget.

On eBay I found some decent looking headlight kits with LED's/angel eyes etc. It is unclear to me, however, if the 'stock' headlights I have are the same as what people refer to as halogens? Is there a way to tell? Don't want to shell out 310$ to find out the headlights are wrong...

Hope someone has gone through this before.
