Default Missing key for locking lug bolts

Hi -

I took delivery of a new 2012 JSW a couple of weeks ago. I noticed while checking over a couple of things that the car came with locking (well, keyed) lug bolts, but no key for same. If it ever snows in the Sierra, I'm going to want to put some snow tires on... Anyway, I have a call in with the dealer but it'd be nice to know what to expect.

So, does anyone know, will they be able to look up the correct key code based on the VIN? Or is there a card or a notation somewhere with a key code? Has anyone else gotten a car and perhaps found the wheel key had been put someplace really weird, i.e. not in the toolkit, spare tire well, smuggler's boxes, or glovebox?

Also, once I get this straightened out, I'll be replacing the *%&^% keyed bolts with regular hex bolts. Any recommendations on where to get those?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the JSW, but my locking key was in the tray with all the jacking/etc tire stuff that was in the middle of my spare.

If the dealer gets you the key I do a straight trade for used OEM lugs that came off a car I parted out. I'll mail them to you with deposit so you can install them and you mail yours back with the key. Send me a PM if interested and a pic of the key so I don't get one that I already have. The new ones should be different anyways but I'd like to make sure.

I have a set of wheels with snows and after almost rounding out a keyed lug I replaced them all with the non-keyed type. Also picked up a lug bolt guide tool to make swapping wheels easier.

Yeah, I hear you. Didn't take me long to get rid of those either.

I got my lugs at ecs tuning. http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...els/Lug_Bolts/
